Shou Kannon brings salvation to those in the hell realm. Shou Kannon represents the root form, the unchangeable form, of Kannon -- the pure, noble, sacred, holy form.  Shou Kannon commonly holds a lotus bud or water vase and wears a crown that contains a small image of Amida Buddha (called a kebutsu).
